Leona LaurenLeona Louise Lewis, born on April 3, 1985 is an actress an activist, singer and actress of British origin. Born in the London Borough Of Islington she was educated at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, Croydon. Lewis received national recognition when she won the third season of The X Factor in 2006 and was awarded an PS1 million recording deal for Syco Music. The song she was awarded in the contest, which was a cover the song of Kelly Clarkson "A Moment Like This" which was downloaded by 50,000 people within 30 minutes, and was ranked at the top of the charts for the duration of four weeks. In February 2007 Lewis has signed a deal for five albums with the United States with Clive Davis's label, J Records. Her success continued after she dropped her debut album, Spirit (2007). The album is certified platinum within the UK as the fourth highest-grossing album in the 2000s. As per the Official Charts Company, Spirit is the highest-seller debut album by female singers to date in the 21st century. The album's lead track, "Bleeding Love", had a run of seven weeks at the top of the charts at one in the UK and was the highest-priced single in 2007. In the US It was the highest-selling single of 2008 , and Lewis was named Best New Artist by Billboard that same year. Echo was her sophomore studio album. The album also featured the hit song "I I See You" in the movie Avatar. Lewis also released "Collide," a joint collaboration along with Swedish DJ Avicii. The year 2011 saw her also released Hurt which was the extended version on her EP debut. Her third studio album, Glassheart (2012), marked a new creative direction for Lewis and her music, drawing inspiration from dubstep and electronic music. While on her Glassheart Tour in 2013, she started recording music to her Christmas debut album. In the following year, Christmas with Love with Love, featuring the title track "One more sleep", reached number three in the UK. Lewis was an British female solo artist made history by becoming the first female artist to reach the Top Five with eight songs. This surpasses Olivia Newton John's record which included seven singles.
