Patricia Apollonia Kotero has been an actress and model in the United States for many years. Her name was associated with her as the co-star in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain, and the singer for the girl band Apollonia 6 The singer and actress christened Apollonia by Prince and became one of many female artists in the '80s that benefited from her connection with Prince, the Purple One. Patricia Kotero, born 1959 in Santa Monica California began her career as a model and actress. The latter part of the 70s was when she appeared on CHiPS. As the female protagonist of Prince's Purple Rain was her first part from the year 1984. Prince changed the girl's name in this period. She was replaced by Vanity by the female group Vanity 6 to perform in the movie as Apollonia 6 replacing Vanity. Sex Shooter was a minor achievement for the group however, she had an even bigger influence as Prince's duet partner on Take Me with You on the soundtrack. After a dispute regarding the direction she was taking in her career Apollonia six broke up and Kotero ended her association with Prince. She was later seen in several minor films during this time (reportedly refusing to take part on The Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) prior to landing in the role of a nighttime drama Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia was her first public appearance in 1988. However, the album of R&B/dance that was pretty pedestrian and failed to leave a lasting impression on those who bought music at the time, quickly vanished. Throughout the decade that followed the singer-songwriter remained an active actress, playing minor roles in films and a few TV series. In 1997 Apollonia made a record in English and Spanish named Stay with me. Then, she went back to school and earned the degree of filmmaker. Then, she started her own production company. Apollonia Kotero is a household name for wearing many hats. She was a model, actress, and manager of talent. The role she played as an actor in 1984's Purple Rain made her a celebrity. Apart from Purple Rain, she has been in numerous TV shows and movies such as Black Magic Woman or The Divorce Ceremony. Kotero debuted her career as a model. She has participated in various contests and pageants. Kotero won the Miss San Pedro Beauty Pageant. Then, in the 1980s, she started the acting profession.
